Quality and Accreditations
Accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer
In 2011, the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons granted three-year approval with commendation to the cancer program at Memorial Health Care System. Approval by the Commission on Cancer is given only to facilities that voluntarily commit to providing the highest level of quality in cancer care. Facilities must undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance.
Bariatric Center of Excellence
The Surgical Weight Management Program at Memorial Health Care System is deemed a Center of Excellence by the American Society for Bariatric Surgery. To earn and maintain a Center of Excellence designation, Memorial's Surgical Weight Management program underwent a series of site inspections by the Surgical Review Corporation during which all aspects of the program's surgical processes were closely examined and data and health outcomes were collected.
Memorial actively participates in Hospital Compare, a quality reporting initiative of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Hospital Quality Alliance, a public-private collaboration established to promote reporting on hospital quality of care. Memorial shares data with Hospital Compare related to the treatment of adult patients who receive treatment for heart attack, heart failure or pneumonia, or patients having surgery.
