Regional Sleep Center
Thanks to advances in sleep medicine, sleep problems are being accurately diagnosed and treated. Memorial’s fully accredited sleep center offers comprehensive evaluation of sleep disorders in comfortable home-like rooms where sophisticated equipment monitors sleep patterns. Physicians experienced in sleep disorders study results of the tests to determine the proper methods of treatment.
Sleep Disorders
Chronic sleep disruption has been linked to high blood pressure, heart disease, depression, stroke, diabetes, obesity, accidents and debilitating daytime sleepiness. A sleep disorder is a disruptive pattern of sleep that prevents restful, regenerative sleep. Memorial evaluates and treats all sleep disturbances, including the following symptoms and conditions:
- Snoring
- Excessive daytime sleepiness
- Sleep apnea
- Insomnia
- Unusual movement during sleep
Treatment
Sleep disorders may be treated with medications, weight loss, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) Therapy. Surgery may be recommended. Sleep studies and most treatments are covered by Medicare and most commercial insurance plans.
Sleep studies are available at Memorial Hospital Hixson and Memorial Atrium. Patient screenings and physician appointments are offered at Memorial Hospital.
