Weight Management Center

At Memorial, we provide patients with the physical, emotional and spiritual support they need for weight loss success. Our comprehensive program has been designated a Center of Excellence by the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and is considered a Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery by the BlueCross and BlueShield Association.

Nonsurgical Program
Our expert team develops a customized program of diet, exercise, behavior modification, education, nutritional guidance, group support, spiritual counseling and medication to help you achieve a healthier lifestyle. A 12-month commitment is required to gain the maximum benefit from the program and make the necessary behavior and lifestyle changes. Applicants will be evaluated and carefully monitored by our medical team throughout the program.

Surgical Program
Our Surgical Weight Management Program offers the two most common and effective procedures for weight loss. The Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Band or Gastric Banding is a restrictive technique that uses an adjustable silicone band around the stomach to make a small pouch. The Gastric Bypass Roux-en-Y is a malabsorptive technique that bypasses the small intestine to prevent nutrient absorption while also restricting the stomach. These are safe, effective weight loss tools for those 100 pounds overweight or more.

Insurance Coverage
For our nonsurgical program, physician visits and laboratory costs may be covered by your insurance; all other services may be excluded. For weight loss surgery, check with your insurance provider. Many plans cover surgery for those who are morbidly obese but often require documentation on referrals, your weight loss history and weight loss program.
