Nonsurgical and Surgical Treatments
From miniscule tears to major reconstructions, sports injuries need careful, consistent care to prevent recurrence. From shoulders to knees, hips to ankles, physical therapy and other nonsurgical solutions are the first line of defense for most injuries related to exercise and active lifestyles. When traumatic injuries require surgical solutions, our orthopedic specialists offer a variety of options including arthroscopy, ligament reconstruction and cartilage repair.
Injury Evaluation Test
- Did you hear a pop or a snap at the time of injury?
- Were you unable to continue participating in your activity shortly after the initial injury?
- Did you perform the R.I.C.E. treatment (Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate) immediately after the injury was susteined with little or no improvement?
- Are you unable to return to a normal level of activity due to persistent pain? (Note: the level of normal activity will vary for each individual)
If you answered yes to any of these questions, you should consider consulting a sports medicine physician for a complete evaluation of your injury.
