Our interdisciplinary TAVR team represents a strong partnership between cardiac surgery, interventional cardiology, cardiac nurses, cardiac imaging specialists, and our valve coordinator to offer you the highest level of expertise and care. With an individualized approach, each member of the care team will know you and your unique needs.

Brian Negus, MD
Brian H. Negus, M.D., FACC, Interventional Cardiologist
 
Dr. Brian Negus is board certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease and internal medicine. He earned his medical degree at the Medical College of Georgia and completed an internship and residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital. He also completed his fellowship in cardiology at Parkland Memorial Hospital.
William Oellerich, MD
William F. Oellerich, M.D., PhD, FACC, Cardiologist
 
Dr. William Oellerich is board certified in cardiology and echocardiography with The Chattanooga Heart Institute. He earned his medical degree at University of Tennessee College of Medicine while concurrently earning a doctorate in philosophy in its Department of Pharmacology. Dr. Oellerich completed his internship and residency at Barnes Hospital at the Washington School of Medicine. He also completed his fellowship in cardiology at Washington University School of Medicine and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
Mark Thel, MD
Mark C. Thel, M.D., FACC, Interventional Cardiologist
 
Dr. Mark Thel is board certified in cardiology and interventional cardiology with The Chattanooga Heart Institute. He earned his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his internship, residency, cardiology fellowship, and interventional training at Duke University School of Medicine. Dr. Thel is a fellow of the American Board of Cardiology.
Dr. James Zellner
James Zellner, M.D., Cardiothoracic Surgeon

Dr. James Zellner is a board certified cardiothoracic surgeon with Alliance of Cardiac, Thoracic and Vascular Surgeons. He earned his medical degree at University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and an internship and residency at Medical University of South Carolina.

Jennifer Welch, RN, Heart Valve Program Coordinator
 
Jennifer is a registered nurse. She earned her nursing degree at Chattanooga State and has been a cardiac nurse at CHI Memorial for 16 years serving as the valve program coordinator since its inception in 2011.

Michelle Helle, RN, Valve Clinic Nurse Navigator

Michelle is a registered nurse. She earned her nursing degree at University of Tennessee Chattanooga and has served as the valve clinic nurse navigator since 2015.
