Diversity

CHI Memorial’s commitment to diversity fosters a work and learning environment that promotes respect and acceptance of every individual. An extension of our mission, CHI Memorial strives to ensure we have a competent workforce that reflects the cultural diversity of the community we serve and to maintain an environment where all are comfortable and empowered to serve our healing ministry.

A few examples of how we practice diversity and inclusion at CHI Memorial are as follows:

  • For more than twenty years, CHI Memorial has hosted an annual Peace, Love and Unity service on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The uplifting, inspiring service is organized by employees and features a community clergyperson as the keynote speaker with a faith-based musical or theatrical faith performance. Employees, volunteers, physicians and media are invited to attend and the event is open to the community.
  • CHI Memorial is an active participant with the Tennessee Hospital Association in working to eliminate health care disparities.
  • CHI Memorial offers opportunities for employees to complete interpreter service classes to strengthen the resources we have available to have interpreter assistance for our patients and visitors.
  • CHI Memorial provides millions of dollars in community benefit each year including financial support to more than fifty community organizations which serve and are guided by diverse groups of constituents.
