CHI Memorial is pleased to introduce Anthony A. Houston as its new chief operating officer (COO). He succeeds Janelle Reilly, who was recently promoted to market chief executive officer (CEO) of CHI Memorial.
As COO, Houston will lead efforts to optimize quality, safety, and the patient experience in partnership with our physicians and maximize clinical operations to deliver value to the community. He will serve alongside the CHI Memorial executive leadership team as a partner and advocate, fostering a culture of transparency and accountability, and successfully navigating the organizational evolution to achieve operating, financial and service excellence outcomes, thereby strengthening CHI Memorial’s brand as the regional adult acute care provider of choice.
Houston has more than 18 years of healthcare leadership experience with complex health systems in Arkansas, Missouri, and Illinois. He has a strong background in all aspects of acute care hospitals, as well as senior leadership experience in finance, facility planning, physician practice performance, growth, and merger and acquisition activity. “He is passionate about transformational relationships with physicians and employees that support high performance, creates unity, and fosters a collective purpose to fulfill our vision and extend the healing ministry of the Church”, says Janelle Reilly, market chief executive officer, CHI Memorial.
Houston most recently served as the president of CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs, AR. With 309 licensed beds, more than 1,600 employees, a multi-specialty integrated group of 140 providers, and $275 million in net patient service revenue, it is the seventh largest hospital in Arkansas and is the busiest Level II trauma center in the state.
Houston earned a master’s degree in health services administration at Xavier University, Cincinnati, OH and a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Cincinnati, OH. He is presently pursuing a doctorate in education at Creighton University, Omaha, NE. He is board certified in Healthcare Management and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE).
