The RN Residency Program at CHI Memorial Hospital Chattanooga and CHI Memorial Hospital Hixson is accredited as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
The comprehensive, 12 month program provides recent graduates of nursing schools with a consistent and thorough orientation experience designed to transition them into professional practice successfully. During the orientation phase of the program, residents gain access to key systems, complete orientation checklists, participate in simulations and complete patient care with a preceptor in various units within their track. This allows the novice nurse to further develop critical thinking skills and increase confidence in providing safe patient care when matched with a nursing unit.
Education and training are unique to the clinical track. Tracks offered each cohort are subject to change based on current RN position availability and may include: medical-surgical and telemetry, emergency, critical care, and surgical and post-anesthesia care.
Interested applicants may apply online. Interviews are conducted by a team representing the Residency Program and the various clinical tracks. The RN residency program is improving the quality of care provided to patients while also increasing physician confidence in new graduate nurses.
