CHI Memorial’s Annual ‘We Care Saturday’ will be September 30

CHI Memorial’s Rees Skillern Cancer Institute will host its annual We Care Saturday on September 30, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Willow Tree Farms in Ringgold.  This event is a fun-filled day for persons with cancer and cancer survivors, as well as their families and friends.  There is no charge to attend.

“It’s an amazing day filled with fun and celebrating life,” shared Cindy Mills, market vice president of oncology at CHI Memorial.  “People going through cancer treatment, survivors, and family members are able to connect with others who are walking the same journey and provide support and encouragement to each other.  It’s so uplifting to see so many smiles and hear all the laughter as we have fun and celebrate together.”

Activities include a question and answer session with physicians, Tai chi, community drumming and songwriting, story time, face painting, trolley rides, expressive art workshop, yard games, sundaes and s’mores, plus more.  Members of the CHI Memorial Cancer Institute staff will also be at the event including nurses, dietitians, social workers, chaplains, and art and music therapists.

Patients who register by Thursday, September 21 will receive two free meal tickets.  Additional meals can be purchased from food trucks that will be onsite.  Picnic lunches are also welcome. Participants are encouraged to bring a lawn chair.
