Will Deloach and Cynthia Proctor Receive DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses

04/11/23

Will Deloach, RN, and Cynthia Proctor, RN, recently received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.

Two patients nominated Deloach for his compassion. “Will was amazing. I had so many questions regarding my blood pressure and all of the other vital signs that were out of whack with me.  Will took his time to work with me and explain everything. This nurse had so much compassion and empathy- I was blown away. He took his time to help me, calm me down, and just explained everything.” Another patient wrote, “I have never had a more kind and amazing nurse than Will.  Will spoke with me at length while the pain was so intense so it would ease and I would get some sleep. I know this was something little but it was so meaningful to me… I would only hope I have Will as my nurse if I have to visit Memorial again.”

Deloach is a nurse on 5 North at CHI Memorial Hospital Chattanooga and has worked at CHI Memorial since July 2022.

Proctor was nominated by a patient for her comprehensive care. “She went above and beyond to provide excellent, compassionate care. The morning that Cynthia came into my room for the first time, I could immediately tell I was going to be in very good hands… Cynthia tidied up my room, took her time with me and just had the BEST attitude. Cynthia is one of the most compassionate people I have come into contact with. She explained all of the medical equipment I was hooked up to and let me know this was to prevent blood clots in my legs. She brought me food when I was hungry, made sure I didn’t look like a mess and just went way above and beyond

my expectations.  I have been admitted to the hospital a few times in my life and Cynthia was by far the BEST nurse I have ever had taking care of me… She is such a special person, she takes her job seriously, and she definitely is deserving of recognition for the work that she does.”

Proctor is a nurse on 3 South at CHI Memorial Hospital Chattanooga and has worked at CHI Memorial since July 2019.

CHI Memorial is pleased to partner with the DAISY Foundation to recognize the extraordinary difference nurses make in the lives of patients and co-workers. Nurses are chosen each month to receive this wonderful award that honors compassionate care.

Honorees receive a bouquet of daisies, a certificate, a copy of her/his nomination letter, and a beautiful and meaningful sculpture called A Healer’s Touch - hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa.  The honoree's nursing unit also receives a cinnamon doughnut party, because it takes a team for a nurse to achieve his/her best.  Tasty Doughnuts generously donates the treats for this worthy cause.
