Friends of CHI Memorial are individuals who support the mission and ministry of CHI Memorial with an annual gift of $100 or more to the Foundation. Since 2001, Friends of CHI Memorial gifts have been used to provide a variety of critical technology, equipment and capital projects with the goal of providing the best healthcare available in our community. In 2020-2021, gifts to the Friends of CHI Memorial will be used to support the Healthcare Heroes Care Fund.
Since March 2020, our medical staff has been dealing with unprecedented challenges of treating COVID-19 patients and fighting COVID-19 in our community. CHI Memorial staff, as typical of caregivers, take on added heavy loads of fear and stress and often fail to turn to anyone for support. Even before the widespread disease, health care professionals suffered a high rate of burnout. Doctors suffer twice the level of burnout of other U.S. workers. Nurses suffer a higher level of depression than other U.S. workers and high levels of emotional exhaustion.
Our staff will be battling COVID-19 for the foreseeable future, and we are implementing a program to provide tools for them to take care of their emotional well-being. Reducing workplace stress, increasing mental toughness, and developing strategies for staff engagement are priorities that have a positive impact on the value and quality of medical care affecting patient, doctor, and ultimately the broader community’s well-being.
The Healthcare Heroes Care Fund will ensure front-line medical staff feel supported by the community. Whether it be financial support for those struggling to provide for their families, equipment to ensure staff safety or our program to help care for their well-being, your contributions will directly impact Health Care Heroes at CHI Memorial.
