Jermaine Hogstrom, DO, earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He obtained his doctorate in osteopathic medicine from Edward Via College in Auburn, Ala, and completed his residency in internal medicine at Authority Health in Detroit, Mich, where he was also co-chief internal medicine resident. Dr. Hogstrom was also a faculty member at Michigan State University. He now practices at CHI Memorial Internal Medicine Associates - Chattanooga, Hixson Pike and is a member of the American College of Physicians.
Dr. Jermaine Hogstrom has been part of the CHI Memorial family for many years, first getting his foot in the door while in undergraduate school as a volunteer and later being hired to work in the lab drawing blood before attending medical school in 2015. After earning his medical degree and finishing his medical residency in Detroit, Michgan, he returned to CHI Memorial because he says he loves the “close-knit family” environment and how passionate and friendly the team members are.
Growing up in Chattanooga, Dr. Hogstrom visited Louisville, Miss, each summer. During those visits, he was exposed to the lack of health care in rural communities as he watched his mother serve as a physical therapist. This led him to his initial interest in the health care field in his late middle school years, and he developed a passion for science and how he could use it to benefit his community.
Dr. Hogstrom says it’s extremely rewarding to have an impact on his patients’ lives. Although it was a long journey to become a physician, perseverance has paid off. “I’m proud to be part of the CHI Memorial team because it represents me,” Dr. Hogstrom says. “I’m very passionate about what I do, and I try to treat all my patients like family.”
