Orthopedic excellence for every pain and stage of your athletic life
Mazor X™ Platform
Back pain is more than just a nuisance – it can be excruciatingly painful and crippling, even keeping you from doing normal activities. If you’re suffering with degenerative disc disease or a herniated disc, we have good news! CHI Memorial is the first in the Chattanooga region and one of a few hospitals in the U.S. to offer the Mazor X™ Robotic Guidance Platform, a state-of-the-art technology for spine surgery.
The Mazor X™ Platform combines pre-operative planning tools and analytics with intra-operative guidance, giving surgeons advanced spinal surgery options. As spinal surgery has evolved, more focus has been placed on minimally invasive techniques, and this is where the Mazor X™ Platform can deliver its greatest technological benefits.
How Surgical Robotic Guidance Works
Minimally-invasive surgery has been a major focus in recent years, often providing the most advanced technologies along with high quality care for patients. In spine surgery, minimally-invasive procedures with their smaller incisions can pose a challenge to surgeons due to the limited view of the patient’s anatomy. The Mazor X™ Robotic Guidance Platform helps to overcome this challenge with a 3D comprehensive surgical plan and analytics that give the surgeon comprehensive information and visualization before the surgery begins.
Before entering the operating room, surgeons use the 3D planning functionality to plan an optimal surgery in a CT-based 3D simulation of the patient’s spine. In addition, computer analytics provide the surgeon with information to plan the procedure and ongoing guidance during the operation. During the procedure, an automated robotic “arm” holds key surgical instrumentation in place for the surgeon. The robotic guidance helps the surgeon execute their plan and perform the surgery with precision.
Leading the Way in Spine Surgery
Your spine anatomy is what enables your posture, alignment and movement. This technology helps visualize and perform corrections that are created for your individual anatomy and assists surgeons with precision and predictability in surgical procedures. With the combination of a computer and specialized software and instruments, the system helps the surgeon create a personalized treatment plan and determine where and how he will operate on your spine.
At CHI Memorial, our goal is to provide you with the very best surgical care. That’s why our team uses the Mazor X™ Platform – enhancing your surgeon’s ability to operate with precision, efficiency, and confidence.
