Diagnosis and treatment

Signs and symptoms of urological cancers

  • Trouble with urination (difficulty starting to urinate or difficulty holding urine back)
  • Weak urine stream or interruption of stream
  • Pelvic discomfort
  • Bone pain
  • Erectile dysfunction (ED)
  • Painful urination or ejaculation
  • Blood in the urine
  • Blood in the semen

Urological cancers are typically diagnosed when a patient is seeking medical attention related to ongoing symptoms. If detected in the early stages, urological cancers can have a high rate of remission. Once identified, urological cancer can be treated with chemotherapy, radiation, and/or surgery including minimally invasive robotic-assisted surgical options. At CHI Memorial, our team of specialists come together in regularly scheduled cancer conferences to recommend a course of treatment that best suits your or your loved one’s cancer diagnosis.
