CHI Memorial Honors Zach Reich with DAISY Award For Extraordinary Nurses
CHI Memorial recently honored Zach Reich, RN, with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses.
A former patient nominated Reich for his reassuring presence and care. "During the scariest and darkest time of my life, God sent me an angel to brighten my days—an angel named Zach Reich. He always told me he was here for me, reassuring me with, "I'm here for you." He checked on me so much, even when I was sleeping, and always held my hand to put me at ease… He forever touched my life, and whenever I share my story, he will always be included… Thank you for being a light in my darkest hour. I will always be grateful to you."
Reich works in the intermediate care unit (IMCU) at CHI Memorial Hospital Chattanooga and has worked at CHI Memorial since March 2023.
CHI Memorial is pleased to partner with the DAISY Foundation to recognize the extraordinary difference nurses make in the lives of patients and co-workers. Nurses are chosen each month to receive this wonderful award that honors compassionate care.
Honorees receive a bouquet of daisies, a certificate, a copy of her/his nomination letter, and a beautiful and meaningful sculpture called A Healer’s Touch - hand-carved by artists of the Shona Tribe in Africa. The honoree's nursing unit also receives a cinnamon doughnut party, because it takes a team for a nurse to achieve his/her best. Tasty Doughnuts generously donates the treats for this worthy cause.
