Diagnostic Cardiovascular Sonography Program

CHI Memorial Diagnostic Cardiovascular Sonography Program is a hospital based certificate program that integrates ultrasound technology and patient care within a hospital setting. Sonographers gather vital hemodynamic and anatomic information from the cardiovascular system. They work one-on-one with patients of all populations but for the sake of the CHI Memorials academic program, most typically on adult population echocardiography. Cardiovascular Sonographers not only perform transthoracic echocardiograms, but they also work in direct support of the cardiologist to perform non-invasive procedures, stress echos and other specialized procedures. Knowledge of human anatomy and pathology, physics, equipment optimization, and patient care skills are essential in this career track.

Graduates of the CHI Memorial Cardiovascular Sonographer academic program will be eligible to earn a nationally recognized credential in adult echocardiography and vascular, required for employment at most institutions.
