Dr. Matthew Underwood obtained his Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy in 2004.  In 2005, he completed a pharmacy practice residency with Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.  He has been a clinical pharmacy specialist with CHI Memorial since 2005 and is a Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist.  Also, Dr. Underwood has obtained a Master's degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with Distinction in Research honors from St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. He specialized in blood coagulation factors and enzyme studies/protein purification methods and has multiple publications in the Journal of Biological Chemistry and the Southern Medical Journal with acute phase CVA/stroke research. He is the preceptor for the Cardiology learning experience.
